Due to enough water in the dam it was not opened on june 12th , it got decent water flow in the September month so Tamilnadu chief minister has announced to open the dam for irrigation from October 02.

Bhavani sagar Dam
Bhavani sagar Dam was opened on October 05, 2017 it was opened for Arakkan kottai, thadapalli, kaalingarayan and LBP canals. Due to this around 1,43,747 acre agricultural lands will get water for irrigation.
