Every marriages should be registered, it is common for all the religions. State governments introduced the compulsory marriage registration act in the year 2009. It came to live from November 29, 2009. All who married after this date in india need to register their details as per the act and it doesn’t matter which religion or caste they belongs to.

Where to register?

It should be registered in sub – registrar office, It can’t be done in any office, as per the procedures given by the government it should be done in the office where their marriage location comes under.

  • Registration fees is 100rs if they complete it within 90 days of marriage
  • Those who can’t able to do it within 90 days are need to pay 150rs if they register in next 60 days.

Individual forms are available for this purpose which are available at sub – registrar office and also it can be downloaded online at any time.

Documents needed

  • Xerox copy of marriage invitation.
  • Proof for age of husband and wife.
  • Passport size photos of husband and wife.
  • Two witness along with the husband and wife.
  • A proof like passport, voter id, PAN card, etc
