Tamilnadu government decided to issue smart cards for the public instead of paper printed ration card books, the process of issuing the Tamilnadu smart card 2017 is currently going on from April 1. For This TNEPDS sends OTP to the Mobile number of Ration card holders. They need to show this OTP received on their mobile to the ration shop staffs within 15 days of receiving and have to Submit the Old ration cards for getting the new smart cards.
For Adding / removing names in smart card, changing address, getting new card etc peoples can contact E-service centers or it can also be done online at TNEPDS website. Those who were not linked their mobile number with the ration cards need to link it as quickly as possible by visiting the ration shop. Incase if you gave wrong mobile number or any 3rd person mobile not related to your family then kindly change it your correct number by contacting appropriate person.
I have not received the TNEPDS OTP yet What I have to do now? / I have deleted the OTP unknowingly how to receive it again?
For above questions TNEPDS asks to contact 1967 or 18004255901 for getting it again. But unfortunately these numbers are not giving immediate response when peoples contact it for doubts and issues, so peoples are requesting to make an alternate option for this and we hope that this issue will be fixed soon by the TNEPDS officials.
What is TNEPDS OTP?
Once your Smart Card is printed and ready for dispatch through ration shop then you will receive a message from VK-TNEPDS on your registered mobile number with content “தங்களது மின்னணு குடும்ப அட்டை (Smart Card) அச்சிடப்பட்டுள்ளது . அதற்கான ரகசிய குறியீடு எண்:XXXXXXXX. விவரங்களுக்கு ரேசன் கடையை அணுகவும்.” The 8 digit number if your OTP which is a One time password and valid for only 15 days If you missed to show this OTP at ration shop for getting the smart card within 15 days of receiving the message then you have to contact 1967 for getting new OTP again.
State govt has planned to issue the Smart cards for all families with ration cards within next 2 months. Linking of Aadhar number with ration card is mandatory for everyone for getting the full commodities like rice, sugar, palm oil, kerosene, toordhall, uriddhall, wheat etc issued by the government.
